Varicose Vein Attacking Body Butter – How to Get Rid of Varicose Veins Naturally

DISCLOSURE: Please note these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This is for informational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. I am not a doctor. I am simply sharing my experiences.

How to get rid of varicose veins naturally - Varicose Vein Attacking Body Butter – thecrunchymoose.com

Yes, you can get rid of varicose veins naturally! No lasers needed. With the right combo of essential oils, you can promote blood flow and get rid of the blood clots causing varicose veins. Get rid of varicose veins the natural way with this varicose vein attacking body butter.

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins, although they can appear anywhere, are most common in our legs. Your legs pump blood against gravity to your heart. If there is added pressure on your legs or the veins, the blood flow slows down, causing build up. The veins then become twisted, large, and weak. And that’s a varicose vein.

What Causes Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins happen when the veins and valves are weakened and/or have extra pressure. A bunch of things could cause this including:

  • Gaining weight (including pregnancy)
  • Blood clots
  • Injury or damage
  • Prolonged standing
  • Lack of exercise (gotta keep the blood flowing!)

Although I have a few spider veins prior to a back injury, I got 2 large varicose vein patches in my left leg from sciatic nerve damage. I developed this body butter to attack my varicose veins and try to reverse the damage. I have been using this recipe for about 4 months and the discoloration is fading!

How to Prevent Varicose Veins

Of course it’s best to not get varicose veins in the first place! Here are the best ways to prevent varicose veins:

  • Use a dry body brush to improve lymph flow. Find a dry body brush here.
  • Don’t cross your legs when you sit. Crossing your legs can put unwanted pressure against your veins.
  • Sit with your feet elevated occasionally. One of the reasons we get varicose veins is because the veins are working so hard to fight gravity.
  • Eat anti-inflammatory foods including turmeric, ginger, blueberries, olive oil, broccoli, and kale. Inflammation reduces blood flow. Reduced blood flow leads to blood clots. Blood clots result in varicose veins.

Which Essential Oils to Use

Here is a list of essential oils that promote circulation and blood movement. They strengthen the capillary walls in your blood vessels (weak vessels is a cause of varicose veins). Lucky for me, a lot of these oils have either a citrus or earthy smell, 2 of my favs! I highly recommend Young Living Therapeutic Essential Oils. You can buy them here.

  • Basil
  • Cypress (very effective)
  • Fennel
  • Geranium
  • Grapefruit
  • Helichrysum (This is one of the more expensive essential oils. But it is worth it’s weight in gold. It attacks the coagulated blood inside the veins when applied topically on your skin. Amazing stuff.)
  • Juniper Berry
  • Lemon (very effective)
  • Lime
  • Orange
  • Rosemary

In addition, here is a list of some of the oils that support healthy joint and cartilage function that is often needed in addition with healthy circulation. You can add 5-10 drops of one of the following oils to your recipe:

  • Chamomile
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lavender
  • Marjoram
  • Peppermint

  • Store in a glass container. These jars are perfect.
  • Massage this towards your heart to encourage blood flow (i.e. start at your ankles and work up your legs; start at your wrists and work up towards your shoulders).
  • Your body butter is good for about 6 months. Store at room temperature. During hot weather, the body butter may slightly melt. You can store in the fridge if this happens (or if you just like a cold body butter).
  • Note: Just like with dry body brushing, I do not recommend using this body butter at night. These circulation boosting essential oils get your blood flow all worked up and is very stimulating! It can disrupt restful sleep.

I’m a bit skeptical. Do you have any before and after shots?
Or using on one side of a persons legs but not the other?

Hi Kat! About 1 and a half. It’s a little bit over 8 oz of ingredients in the recipe, and then it’s whipped.

Replace with another solid oil. You can use more shea butter or cocoa butter.

I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned lemongrass! I’ve heard great things about it. Also, lemon is quite photosensitive. It’s important to either stay out of the sun or use sunscreen if you use lemon.

Good questions! Both are anti-inflammatories. So you can use either.

  18. The Crunchy Moose says

Oh no! The lemon, helichrysum, geranium, grapefruit, lime, and orange are safe during pregnancy. You can also try are panaway and valor for pain. Avoid fennel, basil, juniper, and rosemary. Here is a great article with more information: http://www.thankyourbody.com/essential-oils-pregnancy-nursing/. I hope this helps and you can find some relief.

Hey! Love love love this recipe. Thanks for posting! My first batch came out great. It was perfect. Consistency and all! However I just made a second batch today and it wouldn’t whip. I had it in my kitchen aide (same as last time) and it stayed runny no matter hoe long I let it go. Any thoughts on what I may have done wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks!

  22. The Crunchy Moose says

Hey Ashlee, thanks for your Body Butter recipe! I’ve got some pretty brutal varicose veins. I actually had a vein ablation a couple years ago which helped, but then my third pregnancy totally brought them back! I’m just wondering how much improvement you’ve experienced? Like, 50%? 75%?? I have some of the oils, but would have to invest in the others so I want to do my homework first! Thank you!!

  24. The Crunchy Moose says

    September 23, 2014 at 5:01 pm

About 60%! I am still seeing improvement, but it’s not going as quickly as when I first started using it, but still improving. And most importantly, new varicose veins are not showing up.

    Hi Ashlee!

I just made this recipe about a week ago and already love it. Thank you so much for sharing, I have worked in the service industry for years and though I don’t have any “true” varicose veins yet, there’s a couple that are getting to that point and my legs are always in need of help with circulation:)

I do have a question for you, how often do you use it? I have just been using it after a shower, but not every day. Would you recommend using it every day for the best results? Thank you!

  29. Neringa says

  30. The Crunchy Moose says

I use it several times a week. Since you are preventative, I don’t think you need to do it everyday (but wouldn’t hurt if you did ;0 )

  31. The Crunchy Moose says

    December 8, 2014 at 12:01 pm

Yes. Any liquid oil should work (avocado, almond, olive, etc)

…is it important to make the body butter in terms that the combination of these oil help the healing process as well. Or would it just work as well to use the essential oil in a simple carrier oil (jojoba or almond)? Thank you! Fantastic ideas you promote here.

  35. The Crunchy Moose says

    January 9, 2015 at 4:35 pm

You are correct. You can use the essential oils in a carrier oil. And I do that sometimes in between body butter batches 😉

I am so excited to try this. Since we are several months out from when these comments were posted, how are your results now? I have ugly varicose veins and also have multiple ablation surgeries. They keep popping up. I am so hopeful that this will work. I am very curious to hear how your progress has been….

  37. The Crunchy Moose says

    February 4, 2015 at 1:29 pm

Hi Aimee! I’m very pleased with the results! The veins are very close to my natural skin color now. And no new veins have formed. I can still see a few spots from the veins when I am close to my legs, but the color is continuing to fade.

My terrible varicose veins have kept me from enjoying life for too many years. I’m desperate to have relief from the pain as well as the unsightly bulging & twisted veins. Haven’t purchased helichrysum yet as it is so pricy! I’ve been trying lemongrass & cypress. Any thoughts on this combo? I also have a lot of inflammation (fibromyalgia-like condition for years). Any help would be appreciated.

I love this recipe! I would like to use it as a base recipe for a body lotion and add different essential oils depending on what I am in the mood for…can you leave out the essential oils until later? For example, if I made a batch and put in separate containers so I can add different oils in each, can that be done or do the essential oils have to be added before it is whipped??? Hope that makes sense? Thank you!

Hello, is it ok to just use helichrysum? If so, how much do I need for a single batch? I saw in one post/review that she used 50 drops/8 oz. lotion base and had amazing improvement in just 6 weeks. I’m in my late 20’s and started to develop varicose and spider veins in my mid 20’s probably due to pregnancy and use of birth control pills and my skin is just thin/”see through” which make my veins even more prominent. I was considering sclerotherapy but I was sort of trying to convince myself to choose the more natural way of healing it and then I saw your post so I’m going to try this first and see what happens. Thank you!

  48. The Crunchy Moose says

It has helped with my bulging veins. I had a pretty big patch of them after my surgery. I got them down considerably using the body butter. I’m pregnant now so they have come back a little so I’m using the body butter again. I don’t have before and after pictures.

  52. The Crunchy Moose says

Some tips to prevent varicose veins – do not stand for longer period, avoid constipation, regular exercise, sleep on the left side, avoid carrying too much weight.

I assume it’s just a different variety. I only use Young Living essential oils and they don’t have the sweet marjoram variety.

I just made a batch and whipped it but doesn’t look very fluffy. When I applied it it became oily. Is that normal? Do you just wait for it to absorb into skin?

Will this work on broken capillaries?
    Thanks for your information.

Hi, what safe oils do you recommend to use for when your pregnant please? And the most potent. I’ve always suffered with thread veins but since being pregnant on the leg I’ve had an injury on the veins in the area are swollen sore dark in colour and very hot and now stick out unlike before. I’m hoping after pregnancy this will go.im having to wear a support tight. Also does it help thread veins disappear? They make me miserable and Surgery is so expensive. Many many thanks in advance for your help!!! Kind regards Carol 🙂

Hi Carol – Here’s a great article on pregnancy and essential oils http://www.thankyourbody.com/essential-oils-pregnancy-nursing/. Helichyrsum is what worked best for me.

I don’t have personal testimonies with broken capillaries. I have heard from people that cypress helps and supports circulation.

hmmmm….I’m not sure what happened. Mine is always fluffy and it is absorbed into the skin without any oily residue.

    Ingredients
1/2 cup shea butter (organic, raw, and unrefined like this one)
1/4 cup coconut oil (organic and cold pressed like this one)
1/4 cup jojoba oil (organic, cold press, and unrefined like this one)
1 tablespoon vitamin E liquid ( like this one)
30 drops of essential oils from the above list (my favorite combo is 10 drops of cypress, 10 drops of lemon, 5 drops of fennel, and 5 drops helichrysum)

The 30 oils from above list:

    WHICH ESSENTIAL OILS TO USE

Here is a list of essential oils that promote circulation and blood movement. They strengthen the capillary walls in your blood vessels (weak vessels is a cause of varicose veins). Lucky for me, a lot of these oils have either a citrus or earthy smell, 2 of my favs! I highly recommend Young Living Therapeutic Essential Oils. You can buy them here.

    Basil
    Cypress (very effective)
    Fennel
    Geranium
    Grapefruit
Helichrysum (This is one of the more expensive essential oils. But it is worth it’s weight in gold. It attacks the coagulated blood inside the veins when applied topically on your skin. Amazing stuff.)
    Juniper Berry
    Lemon (very effective)
    Lime
    Orange
    Rosemary
In addition, here is a list of some of the oils that address inflammation. Inflammation often occurs with varicose veins. If you have inflammation (swollen ankles, etc. or pain resulting from inflammation) along with your varicose veins, add 1 or 2 of the following oils to your recipe:

    Chamomile
    Eucalyptus
    Lavender
    Marjoram
    Peppermint

Would it be effective at all if I were to add the essential oils to my sunless self tanner? Or is it more the combination of the other ingredients mentioned that make it possible to achieve positive results? Thanks!

I’m the same! Early twenties I started to develop varicose veins.. Ugh. I’m just starting to get into essential oils so I will be taking before and after pictures of my progress with the Cypress oil. Has it been working for you? I see these comments are from over a year ago so it’d be nice to hear some positive feedback from others who’ve tried the essential oils and this body butter! 🙂

  107. The Crunchy Moose says

    August 25, 2016 at 2:18 pm

Possibly. There is a possibility that the ingredients in your tanner could interact with the essential oils – in a good or bad way.

I finally gathered all my ingredients to make this body butter. My only problem is I can’t keep the coconut oil from being a liquid (I live in south Texas). Should I pull out the 1/4 cup coconut oil an put it in the fridge so that it’s hard before I start mixing my body butter? Or is it ok to just go ahead and mix it as a liquid. I want to be sure to do it right since the Helichrysm cost such a pretty penny. Thanks so much!

The 1st step is to melt the coconut oil, so you can use it as is.
