DIY Aloe Vera Ice Cubes
Say hello to your new favorite summer hack! Aloe vera ice cubes!

It's like an ice bath combined with the best moisturizer nature makes. Your skin is gonna thank you for prepping these and keeping them in the freezer. Bye-bye puffiness and hello to smooth, glassy skin!

Plus, they are so easy to make that this might just win the title of easiest DIY on the blog!

How to Make Aloe Vera Ice Cubes

  • Grab an aloe vera leaf.
  • If you cut it fresh off the plant, let it rest for about 15 minutes to drain the aloin -- the yellow, gooey stuff the leaf releases when it's freshly cut. Aloin is an irritant an you don't want that in your ice cubes. Cut off the end with the aloin and rinse it off.
  • Cut off the spiney sides of your leaf.
  • Cut into about 1" pieces.
  • Cut off the flat top layer of skin.
  • You're left with a thick layer of gel and the bottom layer of skin. Leave that layer on because it makes your leaf less slippery and easier to handle.
  • Lay the aloe cubes in a single layer on a flat surface.
  • Freeze for several hours.
  • Once the cubes are frozen, you can transfer them to a freezer bag or container.

How to Use Aloe Vera Ice Cubes

This is the fun part! Your hair and skin will love these aloe ice cubes!

  • Rub on your skin for after sun relief.
  • Run on your bug bites, rashes, and minor irritations to soothe.
  • Use in your daily skincare routine as a moisturizing serum. Don't forget to moisturize your lips!
  • Your hair also likes aloe! It's moisturizing and gives you that tousled, beachy texture.

Notes:

  • Don't rinse off your skin. Allow your skin to fully absorb all the aloe as it dries on your skin.
  • When using on your hair, you can rub on the strands of your hair and/or your scalp. On my hair, it dries like a lightweight gel and gives me a beachy hair vibe. I love it in the summer!
  • Aloe ice cubes will keep for up to about 6 months in an airtight bag or container in the freezer.
  • While you could refreeze and reuse your cubes if you have extra gel left after you use them, I don't recommend it.
