Introducing Ashlee Taps
I was a competitive dancer for about a decade growing up. Tap was always my true love and what I was best at.
I had zero natural flexibility and had to work extremely hard to get those splits and high kicks so jazz wasn't my best contribution to the dance team.
Ballet was boring.
I took gymnastics for several years and could never master a cartwheel, so I wasn't the flying stunt girl on the team, either. I think my lack of acrobatics skills is partly because my arms don't straighten all the way (that drove my dance teachers crazy!) as shown in the pictures below (as well as the permed bangs. Gah the 90s was quite the decade!).
I left dance after high school, taking the occasional jazzercise class. I always missed it but I'm an adult now so those kind of hobbies are done, right??!!
Then I found a studio near me that had adult classes. I tried out a class and I was hooked again!
In the first class, they said, "the adult classes at this studio are in the recitals. Are you good with that?"
Ummm....am I good with that?!?! YES please and thank you!! Put me on that stage! And let me tell you, we sure were cute!!

I was able to dance with them for a handful of years. Then my kids entered a very busy season of life. So I gave up the classes to keep up with their schedule. And that's ok! It's their turn now and I love being in their cheering section!
My husband knew I missed tapping and couldn't get to class. So for Christmas he got me a tap board! SWOON!
And that's when Ashlee Taps was created! I decided to record a few of my tap sessions and put them online so you can dance along with me!
