The Ultimate Guide To Fermenting - thecrunchymoose.com

Fermenting. It’s all the rage. Everyone is talking about it. But if you’ve never done it, it can be very intimidating. Luckily, I have something that will help!

So…..What Is Fermenting?

Fermenting is an easy method to preserve food. It’s a tried and true method that has been used for centuries. It’s not a fad. Fermenting is here to stay!

Why Should I Ferment My Food?

For the bugs, of course! Yep, fermented foods are full of bugs and good bacteria. This good bacteria is called probiotics (read more about probiotics here). Your body is full of good bacteria and bad bacteria. Fermented foods have a ton of the good kind. Your gut NEEDS that good bacteria to stay healthy. If you suffer from any of the following, there is a good chance that balancing your gut flora & adding more good bacteria from fermented foods will help:

  • Food intolerances
  • Leaky gut
  • Eczema
  • Frequent colds & flu
  • Gas, bloating, constipation
  • Headaches
  • Sugar cravings
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • ADHD

All of those are indications that your gut flora is not balanced and the bad bacteria is winning. Time to take charge of your gut!

Is Fermenting Difficult?

Not with Tamara and Kelly! They walk you through the entire process. And once you get the hang of it, you’ll be fermenting everything that comes through your kitchen. Here’s a preview of some of the many foods they ferment with you:

  • Dilly Carrots
  • Jalapenos
  • Green Tomatoes
  • Sauerkraut (not 1, but EIGHT recipes)
  • Peaches
  • Lemonade
  • Ketchup (yep, even picky kids that eat ketchup on everything can get some fermented foods in their system! I know my son eats more ketchup than I’d like to admit and can’t wait to make this for him.)
  • Berry Vinaigrette

There are over 60 pages and almost 40 recipes your family will love!
