Makeup Remover and Body Lotion

I told you about my makeup remover & body lotion in my skincare post. Here’s how I mix it up.

DIY Makeup remover, only 2 ingredients! thecrunchymoose.com

I use this for both the makeup remover & body lotion. Coconut oil is, well, awesome. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. It helps heal scars & reduces puffiness under your eyes. I’m thinking about adding some shea butter to the mix for the body lotion (not makeup remover). If I test it out, I’ll let you know. Find coconut oil here.

This vitamin E oil uses olive oil as the carrier. Those are the only 2 ingredients. Be sure to check the label before you purchase. Some brands have lots of ingredients and fillers.

I add a layer of coconut oil, layer of vitamin E, repeat. This makes it easier to mix. I add about a teaspoon of vitamin E with each layer. About 2 tablespoons vitamin E per 1 cup of coconut oil.

I bought this coconut oil about 2 hours ago. I made toothpaste and this. I’m already a quarter of the way through this big 54 oz. jug. I go through this stuff like crazy. And the funny thing, I never finish the last few tablespoons of the last container of oil until I get another one. So for about 4 or 5 days, I’ve had a few tbsp. in an otherwise empty container and wouldn’t use it. You know, just in case. Like I’m going to have a coconut oil emergency. I added those last spoonfuls to my vitamin E mix.

To remove makeup, wipe the coconut oil on your face, then wipe off. That’s it!

I’m wearing gel eye liner today. That stuff is messy.

How much of the coconut oil do you use?

Very minimal. I dip 2 fingers in the coconut oil / vitamin e mix and wipe on my eyes, then wipe off. That’s it! So just enough to rub in.

Does this stuff spoil? I basically only wear makeup on weekends so was wondering if I made a good size batch to last would it go bad? Should I just make a small batch. I just don’t want to be bothered with having to make it often. LOL
Also, Could you give roughly the measurements or how much coconut oil and vitamin E you mix together? You said about 2 Tbsp total of vitamin E but what about the coconut oil? Looks like you have a watery consistency there.

No, it doesn’t go bad. You can make big batches. About 2 tbsp of vitamin e per cup of coconut oil. The consistency depends on the temperature. Coconut oil is liquid when it is hot and solid when it is cold. So if you like a more solid mix, you can store it in the fridge. Your body temperature will melt it to make it easy to work with when it touches your skin.

You mention a vitamin E that is mixed with olive oil. What about pure vitamin E? How much would I use? That’s what I have and the package states not to use undiluted, it could be toxic. This makes me question at what ratio to use the pure vitamin E with the coconut oil.
