Ingredients
  1. 3-5 drops Copaiba
  2. 3-5 drops Frankincense
  3. 3-5 drops Idaho Balsam Fir
  4. 1 Vegetable Capsule
Instructions
  1. Fill the Vegetable Capsule with the essential oils. Take as often as needed. There aren't any side effects and your body will discard the oils that it isn't able to process.
Notes
  1. It is very important to only ingest therapeutic grade essential oils.I have only done this and will only do this with Young Living Essential Oils. I do not recommend ingesting any other brand of essential oils.

Copaiba Essential Oil

Copaiba essential oil is a powerful oil that promotes healthy joint and cartilage function. Copaiba works well with a lot of other essential oils and amplifies their effectiveness. This oil contains beta-caryophyllene. This natural chemical is also in marijuana. Marijuana contains up to 35% beta-caryophyllene. Copaiba contains up to 55%.

Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense essential oil improves concentration, promotes restful sleeps, uplifts mood, and supports the immune system.

Idaho Balsam Fir Essential Oil

Idaho Balsam Fir essential oil also promotes healthy joint and cartilage health.

Side Effects

This is the easiest paragraph I have ever written for this website. There are ZERO side effects from this magic pill!

That’s right! No bloating, constipation, headaches, muscle spams, loss of sleep, dizziness, sweating, nausea….none of it! Believe me, I have tried just about every pain reliever out there (over the counter and prescription). I understand and remember the side effects. This pill has zero side effects. Well…..aside from inducing relaxation!

A Note About Ingesting Essential Oils

There are 3 traditional models of therapeutic treatment using essential oils: English, French, and German. The English model dilutes essential oils in carrier oils and applies topically to the body. The French model uses neat (undiluted) topical application of therapeutic-grade oils as well as the ingestion of oils. The German model focuses on inhalation (aromatherapy) of the oils. Together, the three models show the versatility and power of essential oils. (Adapted from The Essential Oils Pocket Reference).

The only brand of essential oils I ever have and ever will ingest is Young Living Essential Oils. It’s important to note that not all essential oils are safe to ingest. For Young Living essential oils (in the USA only since this is FDA label requirements), if the back of the bottle has dietary supplement facts on the label, then it is certified as GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe by the FDA).

The little natural pill that ends my back pain - thecrunchymoose.com

As with any treatment, use your body as your guide.

If you are not comfortable with ingesting essential oils, you may use this recipe topically either neat or diluted with your carrier oil of choice.

How Often Can I Take It?

I take about 3-4 a week when I feel problems creeping in. I have talked to people that take 2-3 a day (as close as 15 minutes apart) when the issues are more severe. Your body will use the oils it is able to process and discard the rest. I start to feel the pill working in about 15 minutes.

It is best to take the capsules when you make them and not store the oils in the capsules for a long period of time (the oils can eat at the capsule and may leak). However, I often will make one and put it in my purse for emergencies. I usually take it within a couple days. I have also made a handful of these to take on a week long vacation so they are available when needed. It’s not ideal, but I have done it when necessary.

I’m so sorry to hear that Michelle. I used to have sciatica nerve pain and I know there is not much pain that is worse than nerve pain. It is safe to use essential oils when you are on narcotics and other prescriptions for most cases. http://essentialhartbeat.com/?page_id=389 I hope you are able to find some relief.

I too have had the same back surgery, but thankfully only once and it worked almost immediately! I had no time to get my back “strong” before I became pregnant w/ baby #3. Fortunately I had an uneventful pregnancy and was very grateful. If fact, I had less sciatic pain than I did w/ my first 2 pregnancies. Now I am pregnant w/ #4 (22wks) and have started to feel the sciatic pain flaring up! I wondered if this “morphine bomb” is safe while pregnant. Also wondering if this will be effective after child birth (I have C-sec). Also safe while breastfeeding? I would love an alternative to the narcotics that are deemed safe after childbirth. Thank you!

Yes. #1. Eat a little something after you take it. Like bread or crackers. This helps soak up the oils. And oil & water don’t mix. So the essential oils sit on top of the water in your stomach. So eating afterwards helps push the oils down a little & the food soaks up the oils. #2. Fill the small part of your capsule with coconut oil. This dilutes the oils and dilutes the taste. Hope that helps!

Question: What size capsules do you put your oils in. I have a few different recipes that say put xyz number of drops in of xyz oils and then finish filling with carrier oil. However too big a capsule and you will have too much CO to EO ratio and too small a capsule and you won’t have enough CO to go with your EO blend. Thank you!

No. Drug tests do not test for beta-caryophyllen

I wonder if all Young Living oils are ingestible? Many sites say do not take essential oils orally but apparently here you can. What’s the difference?

  11. The Crunchy Moose says

    August 17, 2015 at 1:13 pm

Not all YL oils are for internal use. There is a GRAS list (generally regarded as safe). The YL bottle says if it is for internal use or not. I only ingest therapeutic grade essential oils, which is why I use Young Living. There are 3 different models for using oils: English, German, and French. The French model includes ingesting oils. The other 2 models do not. So people that are against ingesting the oils do not follow the French model. Each person has to decide for themselves what they are comfortable with.

Did you know that Young Living Idaho Balsam Fir is no longer listed as Dietary or Safe for internal consumption? They changed it on their website several months ago… which begs the question, did they change it because people were abusing it and they got pressure from the FDA or did they change it because now they’re adulterating it with chemicals such as propolyne glycol which are not safe for consumption.

    Check it out:
    https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/essential-oils/singles/balsam-fir-idaho-essential-oil

I’m curious, what does your Current bottle of Balsam Fir oil say on it, I just got mine yesterday and it literally says “Topical use Only”; which defeats the purpose of why I purchased it. I wanted to use it as listed in your recipe for back pain.

  13. The Crunchy Moose says

    October 27, 2015 at 9:30 am

In the United States, each oil now has to be listed to be used as a dietary supplement or topical use. It cannot be labeled as both. On the label. So Idaho Balsam Fir is now labeled as topical use only. The oil inside the bottle has not changed. And the label in other markets for many oils is different.

I used balsam fir 7 drops several times a day when I was battling cancer. I experienced no side effects whatsoever. I still use it to this day with no ill effects.

Does this recipe have to be put into a vegetable capsule. Every morning, I drink a warm glass of lemon water and will usually add a drop or two of Copaiba. My question what’s the difference of adding this to my lemon water and just drinking it over the vegetable capsule. I prefer to just add it to my drink, stir and sip. Didn’t know if that was different than ingesting via capsule

New to Essential Oils but have been told Young Living oils are some of the best. How do you go about filling the capsules? Thanks in advance.

I just hold the capsule and drop the oils in. You could get a tray like this that holds the capsules while you fill them. http://amzn.to/1SbXUuT

Nope, you don’t have to put it in a capsule. In water is perfect.

I am going on vacation and trying to limit the amount of oils I take in the plane since we are restricted to one quart size bag. How long will the oils last in a gelcap?

  22. The Crunchy Moose says

    July 11, 2016 at 5:59 am

Best practice is to use them immediately as the oils can leak or wear down the capsule. But I’ve pre-made them before and had them last a couple weeks without any problems.
